Thomas Jefferson, third president of the United States, lived during a time when America was vexed by the sin of chattel slavery. The following is a quote from the third panel of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington D.C.
“God who gave us life gave us liberty.
And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure
if we have removed their only firm basis:
a conviction in the minds of men
that these liberties are the gift of God?
That they are not to be violated but with His wrath?
Indeed, I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just;
that His justice cannot sleep forever.”
Today, America wrestles with a different form of institutionalized sin. It’s a pattern of sin that destroys many lives.
Aldous Huxley, (1894-1963) author of the dystopian novel “Brave New World” and the nihilistic book “Ends and Means,” was one of the most influential minds of the 20th century. His writings were pessimistic and rebellious against Christian morality. One thing I can say for Huxley is that he honestly faced the philosophical and social outworkings of atheistic evolution. Atheism among intellectuals leads to societal repeal of God’s laws. This unleashes social chaos.
His grandfather was the famous Thomas Huxley, known as “Darwin’s bulldog” for his zealous promotion of Darwinian evolution. Darwinism encouraged intellectuals to deny God’s existence and deny God’s moral law. Darwinism is the secular origins myth. Space fails me to list the scientific flaws of Darwinism. Darwinian myth and its implied atheism is taught in publicly funded schools. It destroys the faith and morals of millions.
The first of God’s laws the atheist pundits wished to repeal was the seventh commandment: “Thou shalt not commit adultery.” Aldous Huxley wrote the following in his 1937 book Ends and Means regarding Christian morality:
“We objected to the [Christian] morality because it interfered with our sexual freedom.”
Huxley and his legions of fellow travelers liberated society from the shackles of the seventh commandment. Sexual promiscuity became the new “morality.” The real motive of many of the Darwinist intellectuals appears to be sexual liberation.
They soon found it necessary, however, to repeal yet another law in the Ten Commandments. Sexual freedom led to millions of unwanted fetuses. Our philosophical masters decided it’s best to kill them off. They repealed the sixth commandment: “Thou shalt not kill.”
This brings us to the present state of the morality of western civilization, especially the United States. The U.S. has the most liberal abortion laws of all the western democracies because of the sweeping decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973 that declared that the imagined “right” to abortion was guaranteed in the constitution of the United States. Abortion is still the law of the land because we continue to vote for pro-abortion politicians who continue to appoint and confirm pro-abortion supreme court justices. We, the people, are ultimately responsible.
Over 40 million bodies of preborn children have been piling up since 1973. Those kinds of numbers – 40 million – can be called Adolf Hitler numbers. It’s comparable to the number of murders of the Nazi regime. It is mass murder of the unborn! The mass murders will not go unanswered.
Abortion is not the only issue that faces us. The U.S. is fiercely divided and is vexed by racial strife, violence and income inequality. Additionally the SCOTUS has imagined another “right” that it supposes to be protected by the constitution. Its infamous Obergefell v. Hodges decision imposed gay marriage on all fifty states. This has given momentum to teaching the homosexual agenda in schools.
God has provided for our redemption by sending Jesus of Nazareth, the promised Messiah of Israel. Jesus came in fulfillment of over 300 Old Testament prophecies. No other figure in all of world history can make this claim! Jesus died for our sins which means that when He suffered and died He took the penalty of our sins upon Himself. He rose from the dead to offer forgiveness to all who call upon Him. Turn to Christ today to receive forgiveness of sins!
Steps to salvation:
Jesus said “Ye must be born again” (John 3:7).
Prayer to receive salvation:
“Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).
To receive the salvation that Jesus purchased for us at the terrible cost of His suffering and death on our behalf I invite you to pray this simple prayer:
“Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for sending Jesus, the promised Messiah, to die for my sins. I admit that I am a sinner. I repent of my sins and I ask for your forgiveness on the basis of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit to empower me to serve you under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
If you prayed this prayer in the humble sincerity of your heart then you have received everlasting life, which includes power to live right in this life and entrance into heaven in the afterlife!
