In the American Civil War one of the main foods for the Union troops was a dry, hard, biscuit type of bread. This bread was utilized because it could be carried and stored for months without spoiling. Man, in his brilliance, had removed almost all protein, fiber and vitamins from wheat flour and produced a totally lifeless product.
Union troops were mostly farm boys used to fresh food. They quickly became malnourished and disease spread quickly. Far more Union soldiers died from pneumonia, cholera and other infectious diseases than from Confederate bullets. Man’s mind, man’s reason rearranged food that God created in its natural nutritious state and destroyed it. The lifeless food then destroyed young men.
Man has done the same to God’s Law as with food. Man has stripped away God’s revelation, God’s wisdom out of God’s laws and eliminated many of God’s moral commands. Man’s ill-informed reason has attempted to suppress God’s revelation!
The seventh commandment says Thou shalt not commit adultery(Exodus 20:14). Sigmund Freud (1856-1939) postulated that sex was the fundamental evolved motive of the human animal. Under his and his follower’s direction man has attempted to repeal the seventh commandment and allow adultery, fornication and every other sexual vice. The result has been family breakdown through divorce, an epidemic of venereal disease and millions of women raising their children alone in poverty.
The sixth commandment says You shall not murder. This declares the sanctity of human life. Atheist scholars have undermined this for generations. Time will fail me if I attempt to chronicle the writings of Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900) who influenced Hitler, the infamous British fascist Houston Chamberlain (1855-1927), existentialist philosopher Martin Heidegger (1889-1976) and many others near and far who regarded human beings as mere animals that evolved out of random chaos. The rise of fascism resulted in the slaughter of millions. Fascism was no flash in the pan — elements of fascism continue today in our own culture of death.
Karl Marx (1818-1883) and Vladimir Lenin (1870-1924) tried to repeal the eighth commandment: Thou shalt not steal. Communism taught that if we just abolish private property everyone would be happy. According to the Black Book of Communism (written by two French socialists), communist governments in Russia, eastern Europe, China, Cambodia, and Vietnam killed between 70 million and 100 million people in the enforcement of their communist social experiment. They established some of the world’s most tyrannical police states and ironically caused many environmental pollution disasters as well.
Human reason is a glorious, wonderful thing but when reason is exalted above God’s laws disaster ensues. Human reason must be submitted under God’s revelation. Revelation is superior to reason.
Life is sacred because we are not evolved from animals but we are created in God’s image. The God who created us loves us and He has spoken to us. What God has spoken has been written down in the Bible. The Bible is God’s love letter to humanity.
