When the US Supreme Court handed down its decision legalizing abortion in all 50 states of the United States in January of 1973, I was pro-abortion. I was just 16 years old at the time but I took a very cynical view regarding the killing of innocent children in their mother’s wombs. I’m now ashamed if my hard-heartedness at that time.
The reason why I had this attitude is because at an early age I became a devout believer in atheistic Darwinian evolution. I doubted that God is Creator and I rejected His laws regarding sanctity of life.
From the age of 7, I was exposed to evolution because I took a keen interest in dinosaurs. I was attending Catholic parochial school at the time. I remember giving a “show and tell” presentation to my classmates in the second grade. I stood in front of the class with two nuns showing little plastic models of dinosaurs and teaching the children about dinosaurs. The presentation was very well received.
My parents encouraged my interest in dinosaurs and even provided books about dinosaurs. It’s fine to study dinosaurs but the dinosaur books also taught evolution.
From the second grade to the 5th grade I was self-educating myself on evolution. In this way, I was exposed to evolution at a greater depth of understanding than most children of my age. I began to believe in evolution and began to doubt that God created life.
I attended Catholic parochial school up through the 4th grade. My parents enrolled me in the local public school in the 5th grade. I didn’t know it at the time but by entering the public school, I was entering a slaughterhouse of the mind!
The Slaughterhouse Teaches that Life Formed By Accident
I was immediately exposed to much deeper teaching on evolution in the public school classroom. I became a firm believer in atheistic evolution. I took the bait. I swallowed it hook line and sinker. I believed the fairy tale claiming that people evolved from apes and have no souls and no conscious existence after death.
Evolution is a pretext for denying God as creator. Evolution is a pretext for denying the very existence of God!
I believed that life, not just human life but all life was just a cosmic accident. I believed life happened by random churning of atoms in the early earth. These random collisions of atoms supposedly formed the building blocks of life such as amino acids, proteins and the DNA of cells. The cells coalesced together to form multicellular life and then more complex life and so the evolution hypothesis goes.
God’s Miracles Caused Me to Question Atheism
I gradually came back to a general belief in God because I heard reports of miracles. God intervenes through miracles. God’s miracles are like His signature on His holy Bible.
In college, in 1976, when I was 20, I heard the Gospel message that Jesus Christ took the penalty of our sins upon Himself when He suffered and died on the cross. Christ came in fulfillment of hundreds of Old Testament Bible prophecies. Christ was raised from the dead. Christ paid the penalty of our sins and on this basis, He offers forgiveness of sins. I received Christ as Savior and began to follow Him as Lord.
Consider the following Old Testament Bible prophecy fulfilled by Jesus: “All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him [Christ] the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6 circa 700 BC).
Life is not an accident. Life was designed and built by God!
“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants” (Deuteronomy 30:19 NASB).
Evolution is the lie lurking behind the whole culture of unbelief. Evolution is the false hypothesis proclaimed as truth in science class. Evolution is the origins myth of Secular Humanism. Evolution is the myth taught as fact and if you deny it, you’re called crazy.
Evolution is the foundation of the secular culture in which we live. Evolution is the foundation of the culture of death. The culture of death is abortion, homosexuality and socialism.
Scientific Evidence Against Evolution
My point in all this is to encourage you to get educated on the scientific flaws of Darwinian evolution and be ready to defend our faith in God as creator. Be “ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you” (I Peter 3:15). It’s easy to remember the following three points:
1) Spontaneous generation (life forming from non-life) is an absurdity given the complexity of even the simplest living cell. A bacterium is more complex than your cell phone. It could never form by accident by churning of atoms in the oceans and mud flats of early Earth. Microbiologist Harold Morowitz has done a probability analysis of a “simple” cell forming by chance. He found the possibility of the chance formation of a living cell so remote it could essentially never happen.
2) The fossil record does not show a consistent upward progression of life. There are places where the fossil record is upside down. This is where fossils of complex animals appear in rock strata below fossils of simpler animals. This contradicts evolution. Many rock layers that contain dinosaur bones also contain modern looking birds and mammals in the same rock layer! (See “Living Fossils” by Dr. Carl Werner, pages 170-179).
Human Evolution is a bad joke. High resolution CT scans prove fossil skulls of alleged apemen are either fully ape or fully human. Neanderthal is fully human. Australopithecus is fully ape. There are no ape-man fossils. There’s no fossil evidence connecting humans to ancient apes.
3) We should also consider the genetic evidence. Genetic mutations are caused by replication errors in the DNA. DNA mutates when it is affected by toxins or radiation. Toxins and radiation don’t bring new base pairs to the DNA. A mutation simply scrambles and deletes base pairs that already exist in the DNA. Mutations don’t provide useful information to the DNA of living things for uphill evolutionary change. Genetic mutations are no mechanism for evolution.
Chris Reed, Director of MorningStar Ministries, has said that if we send our children to Caesar to be educated, we shouldn’t be surprised if they return home as Romans. We’ve got to homeschool our children or send them to good Bible believing Christian schools.We must also work to get school choice legislation passed. No slaughterhouses for our kids!
Let’s Look to the Creator and Redeemer
Don’t believe the lie that life is a result of billions of highly improbable accidents. There’s an intelligence behind the fabulous design of all living things. Turn to God who created you and turn to God’s Son, the Messiah (Christ) who died for your sins. “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13).

I repent of my sins and I ask for your forgiveness on the basis of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit to empower me to serve you under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
If you prayed this prayer in the humble sincerity of your heart then you have received everlasting life, which includes power to live right in this life and entrance into heaven in the afterlife!
