Ken Ham (1951- ) is one of the most influential Christian apologists of the 21st century.
Ham was born in Cairns, Queensland, Australia. Cairns is in northeastern Australia, located in the tropics with a very hot summer but with a beautiful warm dry climate in the fall and winter months from May to August. It was an ideal place for a young man to study nature.
Ken Ham began his career as a high school science teacher. He earned a bachelor’s degree in applied science with emphasis on environmental biology and went on to obtain a diploma in education. He taught for several years in high schools in Queensland and Victoria, Australia.
Soon, Ham became very concerned about the influence Darwinian evolution was having on the students in the high schools. Some students were convinced that evolution, as it was taught in their textbooks, had disproved the Bible. Ham was appalled and grieved.
Myself and Many Others Were Led Astray By Evolution
This reminds me a bit of my own journey. When I was in second grade, attending a Roman Catholic parochial school I became interested in dinosaurs. My study of dinosaurs soon brought me in touch with evolution. Over several years of reading about dinosaurs in evolution oriented books I became convinced that life on earth formed by evolution without the need for a creator.
By age ten I was convinced human beings evolved from apes and had no souls or conscious existence in the afterlife. Many of my classmates were also steered into atheism by Darwinian evolution.
I became an atheist for several years and I developed a lifestyle of debauchery and rebellion. God brought me back to Himself during my college years. Evolution almost destroyed me. I’ve made it part of my life mission to expose the scientific flaws of evolution to set people free from the evolution deception.
A Science Teacher Becomes a Creation Champion
Ham resigned from teaching high School and began to focus on publishing scientific evidence proving that even the simplest life forms are so complex they never could have arisen by chance. Ham and his wife Marilyn founded two organizations that supplied creation science materials to the public schools of Australia. This was perfectly legal at the time. Creation science was taught in Australia’s schools.
Ham went on to partner with other Christians with degrees in science who studied, documented and published the scientific evidence that disproves the evolution hypothesis. They founded several creationist organizations.
The Move to America
Ham began to work with an American creationist organization called The Institute for Creation Research (ICR) based in California. He went on an ICR speaking tour titled “Back to Genesis.” His commitment to the speaking tour ultimately led to h[m and his family relocating to the United States in 1987. The Hams now have five children and eighteen grandchildren.
In his speaking tour Ham focused on three major points:
1) The teaching of evolution in schools has led to cultural decay. The traditional American Christian cultural heritage of morality, self-government, self-discipline, social justice and human rights is being undermined by evolution-based atheism.
2) We must stand for a literal reading of the first 11 chapters of Genesis. We must show the geological, fossil and archaeological basis for a literal historical reading of the creation account. The fossils don’t support evolution.
3) We must speak up and let our voices be heard in the culture at large to restore our biblical Christian foundation.
Ham and several colleagues founded Creation Science Ministries in 1994. They changed its name to Answers in Genesis (AiG) in 1997. AiG opened the Creation Museum in Petersburg, Kentucky in 2007 and the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky in 2016. (Wikipedia)
The AiG website, www.answersingenesis.org, has a vast library of articles and books that show the scientific flaws of the evolution hypothesis. Additionally, Ken Ham and other AiG scientists travel and lecture all over the world. They do creation evangelism in which they teach about God as creator and redeemer.
Science Proves Evolution Can’t Produce Life
AiG articles painstakingly examine the fossil record to show that there are no genuine evolutionary transitional forms between species. The few transitional forms put forward by evolutionists are examined by rigorous scientific scrutiny and are shown to be non-transitional. One example is the toothed bird archeopteryx. This is a fossil that is fully bird and is similar to toothed birds alive today.
In so-called human evolution, CAT scans of fossil skulls of alleged ape-men show that the interior structures of the skulls reveal that the skulls are either fully ape or fully human. The famous alleged human ancestor named “Lucy” is an extinct ape. Skulls of Neanderthals are fully human. There are no ape-man skulls or missing links. Even the prominent evolutionist Stephen J. Gould repeatedly pointed out the lack of transitional forms in the fossil record.
The science of genetics is no friend of evolution. Evolutionists claim mutations in DNA caused formation of new species. This is impossible because more than 99% of mutations are disadvantageous to the plant or animal. A mutation is caused by radiation or toxic chemicals that interfere with the replication of DNA. Radiation and toxins don’t bring new base pairs to the DNA but simply scramble or delete previously existing base pairs in the DNA. Mutations degrade DNA over time. DNA is not created or built up by mutations. Mutations are no mechanism for uphill evolutionary change.
The Love of God is a Uniquely Biblical Concept
God loves people. The pagan gods don’t love people. Brahma doesn’t love you. The ancient Greek pagan god, Zeus, doesn’t love you. The spirits of modern Wicca don’t love you. The evolution myth doesn’t love you. The only God who loves you and redeems you is the biblical Judeo-Christian God!
People are taking a new look at Christianity. They reflect on the fact that Jesus came in fulfillment of over 300 Old Testament prophecies. They are aware of the miracles of Christ.
The ancient Hebrew prophets of the Old Testament foretold the coming of Messiah and that He would die for our sins. Isaiah the prophet wrote “the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6). I invite you to turn to Christ today to receive forgiveness of sins!

I ask you to fill me with your Holy Spirit to empower me to serve you under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
